Fabulously Creepy Kids Party Food

Here are a few food/snacks/munchy ideas for your Halloween Party. These are easy and fast, most take only a few minutes to make and will be a hit with both the kids and the adults.

Spooky Spider Crackers

Spread peanut butter or process cheese spread onto round butter crackers then place four chow mien noodles or small pretzel sticks on each side of the cracker making eight spider legs then stack a cracker on top making a sandwich then dip raisins into peanut butter or cheese spread and place on top as spider eyes. Peanut butter makes a great glue! LOL

Bloody Rib Bones

Smear cooked spare ribs with your favorite barbecue sauce (add a bit more red food coloring to make them even more macabre). Then arrange the ribs to resemble a human rib cage. Place a half of a red pepper or tomato in the middle as the heart and put a real knife or fake knife into the heart. Creeeeepy!!

Smashed Bloody Brains

Take any type of cooked spaghetti or spiral pasta and create a mound in the middle of a large plate, now soak the pasta with red spaghetti sauce. Voila… a busted brain!

Monster’s Hands

Find some clear plastic “food safe-serving” gloves and place a candy corn into each finger then fill with popcorn until plump and tie off at the wrist of the glove. Your guests can munch from the hand shaped popcorn bags till they get down to the sweet “fingertips”! Yum!!

Yummy Veggie Eyeballs

Slice carrots, cucumbers or radishes in bite size circles. Put a dab of cream cheese on top and then put 1/2 a pitted black or green olive on top. Perfect combos for the vegetarian in all of us!

Fingers and Dip

Peel and slice carrots length wise into finger size pieces. Attach almond slices or plain potato chip pieces onto one end of the carrots with cream cheese too serve as the fingernail. You can use the same idea using pretzel rods or bread sticks. Next bowl up some of your favorite dips so guests can literally… “dip their fingers” in! Ha ha ha…

Apple Bites

Core and slice an apple. Spread peanut butter to one side of the apple slice. Put three or four tiny marshmallows for teeth on top of the peanut butter. Top with another apple slice, peanut butter side down. Now you have a mouth with teeth smiling back at you while you chomp down on it!

My Mummy Roll-up

Use a cooked hot dog or breaded chicken strips and place in tortilla with a bit of ketchup, next roll them up burrito style leaving one end open. Use small ketchup drops to dot on eyes of mummy. Now you have a Yummy Mummy!

Food Faces

Create scary, silly, or jack-o-lantern faces using meat, cheese and vegetables pieces on round foods such as pizzas, cheese crisps, quesadilla or tostadas. You can use homemade pizzas or frozen cheese pizzas. Use pepperoni and black olives as eyes, red pepper pieces to form a nose or diced onions to create teeth. For cheese crisps use black olives for eyes shredded lettuce for a mouth, salsa or sour cream for noses or mouths. Be creative!

Bagel Monsters

Slice bagel in half. Spread on cream cheese fill with meat and use a piece of ham to make a tongue coming out of center of the bagel hole. Attach black olive or pepperoni eyes with cream cheese put lettuce leaves as hair and a carrot nose. Not only a bit creepy but FUNNY looking too!

Hope you have a fun and safe Halloween Party for kids!

plastic skullEvery Halloween, I’m not sure about everyone else, I personally look forward to getting the decorations up for Halloween! I start decorating pretty early, but that’s because I have so much to do and I enjoy it so much. Today, I’ll share some of my own fav Halloween Decorating tips for all viewers here …

Create a Ghostly Gallery on Your Mantle

Search online for some good 18-19th century portraits – you can find some good ones in Civil War history books. Print out the photos and then mount them on somber, coal-colored mats. Add a bit of antique looking candles, some fake spider webs, and a healthy bit of “dust” in the mix and you’ll have your own creepy family photo gallery on your mantle.

Ravens

Do you know luckily those spooky looking ravens can easily find in almost any large department store in October? Buy a bunch of them up and design a killer front entrance! You can wire these fake ravens onto bare branches, stair railings, deck railings, or even on pumpkinsand scarecrows outside your door. Read the rest of this entry

Decorating for your Halloween party doesn’t need to be elaborate, hard or expensive. In fact, I live by the motto that if I can’t reuse a bit of decoration for my home Halloween decorating OR a future party…I really don’t need it. It saves me from spending far too much while trying to replicate parties to these Pinterest on things I’ll never use again.

We’ve rounded up seven of my favorite REAL examples from Halloweenie Roast over the years to inspire your own Halloween party decor!
The Actual Halloween Party Decor Ideas appeared on Spooky Little Halloween.

  1. Broom Parking (take all your old corn brooms and put to good use)
  2. Antique Glassware/Apothecary Jars (fill with anything creepy, oozy, slimy or scary)
  3. Print Up Family Portraits (create family pictures for walls or mantles with antique, turn of the century, creepy looking, monsters, etc.)
  4. Books/Videos/DVD covers (leave piles of gothic, horror, monster or Halloween themed books, magazines, video/DVD covers on tables)
  5. Create Vignettes or Themes (take similarily themed items and group in vignettes for tables… seance, monster, ghost/haunted themes for example).
  6. Use Lights (blacklight, flashing strobes, flickering candle lights, eerie red/green/blue lights all lend to creating that frightening atmosphere)
  7. Halloween Homemade Banners (print up x-ray images, string mini-skeletons, gauze/spider web, bat cut-outs, etc.)

For me, one of the hardest parts of planning a Halloween party was pulling together a menu that is good. I typically spend the party snacks approach but want something a little more smart than dogs or the spiderweb seven-layer dip, y’understand? Recipes, in particular, appear to be a difficult one to come up with.

The article “11 Savory Recipes for Your Halloween Party” appeared on Spooky Little Halloween.

This site has some amazingly fun and freaky recipes. Check them out!

  1. ROASTED GARLIC CHEESEBALL (made black w/poppy seeds)
  2. AMPUTATED APPETIZER (mozza & proscuitto rolled up like an amputated arm)
  3. MARINATED MOZZARELLA SKULLS
  4. SHRIMP ON THE BRAIN (using a “brain” gelatin mold makes this deviously delicious looking)
  5. FALAFEL FINGERS (kinda like “lady” fingers but more zombieish)
  6. KILLER JALAPENO HUMMUS (Green, healthy, hot and yummy)
  7. MONSTER SUSHI (fun ways to eat raw fish)
  8. PUMPKIN STUFFED SHELLS (pumpkin in a completely different way)
  9. CANDY CORN VEGGIE TRAY (a “candy corn” that’s GOOD for you!)
  10. CHEESE GRAVEYARD (a great way to decorate your table)
  11. TORTILLA BATS WITH TOMATO SALSA (awesome looking)
